Have you ever felt like the ground beneath your feet is shaking?
Not literally, but in your spirit—like something is shifting, even though you can’t quite see it yet? Lately, it feels like things in my life have been shaking—almost as if the ground beneath me has become unsteady. It all seemed to happen so quickly, without warning, and I found myself wondering what was going on. In the midst of the confusion, God spoke to me in a quiet, yet powerful whisper: “This is a shaking.”
In that moment, I realized that what felt like chaos was actually God moving things into place for something greater. It wasn’t just random disruption—it was a divine shift, a preparation for breakthrough. The weight of that revelation stirred my spirit so deeply that I knew I had to share it with you, right here, right now. That’s why I’m writing this blog, because when God gives you a word like that, you don’t wait—you act on it while the fire is still burning in your heart.
God is at work, even when things feel shaky. And I felt compelled to bring you into this moment, to remind you that when life starts to feel unstable, it’s often a sign that something amazing is about to happen. These tense moments are proof that things are about to shift in your favor?
When the ground is shaking, it’s not time to fear—it’s time to praise. Somebody shout, “Breakthrough!”
Praise in the Hard Times
When things get tough, our natural reaction is to stress or try to figure everything out on our own. But the Bible gives us a different approach—praise. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says,
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Praising God when things aren’t going well might feel awkward, but it’s in those moments of praise that is when God begins to move. Think about Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25-26. They were thrown in prison, but instead of complaining or giving up, they started praying and singing hymns to God. What happened next? An earthquake shook the prison, the doors flew open, and their chains were loosed. The same God who shook the prison walls for Paul and Silas can also shake things up in your life. When you feel the tension rising, start praising. It shifts your focus from the problem to the problem solver!
The Shaking Means God is Moving
The shaking (mulitple things going wrong at one time, anxiety at an all time high, uneasy feeling, you name it,) is often God’s way of letting you know He’s moving things into place. It might feel uncomfortable or even a little scary, but it’s a sign that change is coming. Just like in Isaiah 43:19, God says,
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43:19
As Christian women, we often carry the weight of family, work, ministry, and personal dreams. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when things don’t go as planned. Maybe you’re waiting for a breakthrough in your marriage, your waiting to meet your husband, waiting for a long-desired answer to a prayer, or clarity in your career or business. And when things start to get shaky, it’s natural to feel like everything is unraveling. But, sis, let me encourage you—what feels like heavy it is actually part of God’s divine plan. God is working, even if you can’t see it yet. Remeber, your life is not falling apart—it’s falling into place. Trust the author of your life.
Listen, I know how hard it can be to stay joyful when things aren’t going the way you hoped. Maybe you’ve been praying for a breakthrough for a long time, or you’re carrying a heavy burden that no one else sees. It’s exhausting when the road ahead seems unclear, and all you can see are the obstacles in front of you. But here’s the key that changes everything: joy is different from happiness.
Happiness comes and goes, depending on what’s happening in your life. If things are going great, it’s easy to feel happy. But when the unexpected hits—when disappointments, delays, or challenges come—it’s hard to hold on to that feeling. And that’s okay because happiness was never meant to be your anchor. What you need in those moments is joy, and joy comes from a much deeper place.
Unlike happiness, which is based on external circumstances, joy is rooted in the unshakable truth that God is in control, no matter what. Joy doesn’t depend on what’s happening around you; it’s anchored in knowing Who is working within you and for you. This is where Nehemiah 8:10 gives us a powerful reminder:
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
In hard times, it’s that joy that gives you the strength to keep going. It’s knowing that no matter how tough things get, God’s promises still stand.
Women of God this joy is what gives you the strength to keep going when you feel like giving up. It’s the quiet assurance that God’s promises still stand, even when life doesn’t look the way you imagined. It’s trusting that He is working all things together for your good, even when the process feels messy or the outcome isn’t clear yet (Romans 8:28).
I know many of you are in seasons where you’re facing serious trials—whether it’s in your marriage, with your children, in your health, or your finances. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, wondering when things will turn around. But here’s what I want you to know: joy is available to you right now, even in the middle of the storm.
It’s About to Get Good
I know this season may feel overwhelming, and you might be tempted to throw in the towel. But let me remind you—don’t give up. The shaking you feel isn’t a sign that things are falling apart. It’s a sign that God is moving powerfully in your life. As unsettling as it may feel right now, this is part of the process. The tension will give way to peace, and these struggles will turn into testimonies of God’s faithfulness. I’ve seen it happen time and time again, not only in my own life but in the lives of so many others.
I encourage you to start praising God with everything you’ve got—right in the middle of the shaking. Lift up His name, even when it feels impossible. As you declare His goodness, you are inviting Him into the chaos, and that’s when He starts shifting things in your favor.
But I get it—it’s not always easy to remember these truths when everything feels like it’s crumbling around you. That’s why keeping a journal can be such a powerful tool. When life feels like it’s shaking, you need reminders of God’s promises—something tangible you can look back on to see how far He’s brought you. Writing down your prayers, scriptures, and reflections can help anchor your heart in His faithfulness. A journal becomes a safe space for you to process, pray, and praise, even in the hardest moments.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back through my journal and realized that what felt like a mess at the time was actually God working out something beautiful. You can check out the journals I’ve created for moments just like this HERE, as they are designed to help you stay rooted in God’s promises, even when everything around you is shaking.
Along with journaling, lean into God’s Word through daily devotionals and scripture. The Bible app is a great resource for this. You might also find that worship music can lift your spirit when the weight of life feels too heavy to carry. Let the words of those songs remind you of who God is and what He’s doing in your life, even when you can’t see it yet.
Sis, don’t let the shaking steal your joy. Let it be a reminder that your breakthrough is closer than you think.
Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart full of trust and expectation. I feel the ground shaking beneath me, and though things around me may feel uncertain, I know that this is a sign that You are working. I praise You, Lord, even in the tension, because I know You are moving on my behalf. Thank You for the breakthrough that is coming.
I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and I stand firm in the promises You have spoken over my life. When fear tries to creep in, remind me of Your goodness and Your faithfulness. Help me to see beyond the struggle and to trust that You are making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19).
Father, strengthen me with Your joy, because I know that the joy of the Lord is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Keep my heart anchored in hope, even when the road gets tough, and remind me that Your plans for me are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
I praise You in advance for the breakthrough that’s on the horizon. I believe that as I praise You, You are shifting things in my favor, unlocking doors, and loosening chains. Thank You, Lord, for what You are about to do. I receive it with joy, and I stand in faith, knowing that the best is yet to come.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Remember: the ground is shaking because your breakthrough is near.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether to write about this, partly because I’m still walking through it myself. Just last week, I made the difficult decision to leave my church of ten years. I won’t go into the details here; that’s a story for another day. What I will say is this: even…
I remember in Elementary school, during P.E., we’d have a team captain, and we’d all line up to be picked one by one. It was dreadful because you didn’t want to be last, but I almost always was. Sometimes, I’d be picked second to last, and I’d breathe a sigh of relief for that one…
I’ve always seen moments like these play out in the movies and never imagined them happening in my own life. Yet here I am still smiling from ear to ear after walking into a room filled with family and friends yelling, “Surprise!” My husband coordinated with my mom, gathered my closest friends, and actually…
