23 week old baby, Journey Faith LeBlanc.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember the lives of the little ones who graced us briefly and to support those who carry the weight of this profound loss. This month is dear to me because of my experience with multiple miscarriages and losing my daughter, Journey Faith, at 23 weeks. If you haven’t already, sign up for the 7 day devotional.

I’m sharing the significance of this awareness month, sharing stories of hope and healing, and offering resources for those navigating the difficult journey of pregnancy and infant loss. You can follow my Instagram page for updates, HERE

The Significance of Awareness

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month provides a platform to shed light on a topic that is often shrouded in silence. It is a time to acknowledging the grief and pain that families endure when they lose a pregnancy or an infant. It’s about breaking the stigma surrounding this type of loss and creating a space for open conversation, empathy, and support.

The Journey of Grief

Losing a pregnancy or an infant is a pain I cannot put words to. The grief that accompanies such a loss can be overwhelming. To anyone who has walked this path, know that your pain is real, and your emotions are valid. This awareness month is an opportunity to reach out to your support network, to lean on loved ones, and to seek professional help if needed. Grief is a process, and healing takes time. Each of our journeys are different.

Prayer and Journaling is my way of navigating the grief of my daughter and just life in general. I created the Journey of Faith: Prayer and Dream Journal in memory of my baby, with the hope of offering support to other women as they navigate their challenging seasons. Through the practice of journaling and prayer, I found solace in my grief and forged a genuine, unfiltered connection with Christ. Regardless of where you currently find yourself, this prayer and dream journal is designed to guide you through your present season. It will help you address your doubts, reignite your dreams, and draw you into a deeper, more authentic relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Stories of Hope and Healing

In the midst of the pain and sorrow, there are stories of resilience and hope. Many individuals and families have found ways to honor the memory of their little ones and channel their grief into positive actions. I honor my daughter with this blog and the Journey of Faith: Prayer and Dream journal. Some have started support groups (If you have a support group, I’d love to hear about it @ info@ebbyslane.com) initiated fundraising efforts, or used their experiences to advocate for better healthcare and emotional support for grieving parents. These stories remind us that even in the darkest moments, there can be a glimmer of hope. Check out more blog post HERE

Ways to Participate and Support

  1. Share Your Story: If you have experienced pregnancy or infant loss, consider sharing your story on social media or within your community when you are ready. Your courage can inspire and comfort others who are going through a similar journey.
  2. Participate in Awareness Events: Again, when you are ready…many organizations host events and activities during this month to raise awareness and provide support. Look for local events or virtual gatherings to join.
  3. Support Charities: Consider donating to organizations that provide assistance to families dealing with pregnancy and infant loss. Your contribution can make a significant difference in their lives.
  4. Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn more about pregnancy and infant loss, the emotional toll it takes, and the resources available for support. Knowledge is a powerful tool for empathy and understanding.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month invites us to remember, support, and heal. It reminds us that behind the statistics are countless stories of love and loss, resilience and hope. As the leaves fall and nature undergoes its transformation, let us also transform our society by fostering empathy, breaking the silence, and creating a world where no one has to carry the weight of pregnancy and infant loss alone.
