This month is all about checking in on the goals you set for the year. Do you remember them? Do you have them written down somewhere, perhaps in a journal or on sticky notes? If you need a journal, check out our collection, HERE
Listen, how many times have we found ourselves eagerly declaring,
“Next year will be the year I…” only to find ourselves stuck in the same old patterns of procrastination and unfulfilled dreams? If you can relate, know that you’re not alone. I’ve been there too.
Just a few years ago, I was trapped in a cycle of uncertainty, dissatisfaction, and self-doubt despite appearing polished and put-together on the outside.
Behind the facade of a successful corporate American admin turned high school English teacher, I was battling anxiety, overanalyzing every decision, struggling with my relationship with food, and just struggling with people in general. But through God’s grace and a commitment to change, I embarked on a transformative journey that led me to where I am today…
I am intentionally living my best life with purpose, intention, and fulfillment. I’ve embraced adventure by stepping out of my comfort zone, found my way to a business that ignites my passion, achieved financial milestones and investments, prioritized my health with consistent self-care, and intentionally worked on improving all the relationships and friendships around me. I’ve also said goodbye to some people.
But let me be clear: my journey hasn’t been without its challenges. However, I am profoundly grateful for the progress I’ve made and the blessings I’ve received along the way.
What made the difference for me was recognizing and addressing
3 Common Mistakes People Make When Walking out Your Dream Life
- Approaching change with an all-or-nothing mentality leads to inconsistency and self-sabotage. I would pray for something, and if it did not look exactly the way I thought it should, or it did not go the exact way I planned in my head, I was quick to dismiss it.
- Neglecting to confront and overcome subconscious blocks and limiting beliefs. I realized I could not be the same person I was if I wanted to live a life intentionally. I was the person who accepted things that came at me. I wasn’t surprised when things did not go my way because I’d gotten used to disappointment. I did not realize that mindset was holding me back from seeing something different.
- Failing to create a clear, written plan of action toward goals. I am a person who has an abundance of ideas (some great ideas). I’ve learned to prioritize what God intends for me in my RIGHT NOW season. I’ve recognized that not every idea is for right now.
If any of these challenges resonate with you, I encourage you to pause and reflect on your approach to goal-setting. Ask yourself: Better yet, write down these questions in your journal and answer them truthfully.
- Are my goals grounded in reality, or am I setting myself up for disappointment with unrealistic expectations?
- Do I truly believe in my ability to achieve my goals, or are my doubts and fears holding me back?
- Have I outlined a clear, actionable plan, or am I relying on vague intentions to carry me through?
Recognizing these patterns in my own life and in the lives of others inspired me to shift. Through intentional prayer, strategic intention-setting strategies, and practical guidance, I’ve created a community and lifestyle blog that empowers women to overcome obstacles and pursue their goals with confidence and clarity.
