The Waiting Season: Are You Doing it Wrong?

I used to dread hearing the phrases: be patient or wait on God. It seemed like I was always in a perpetual state of waiting for something. As a child, I waited for my parents to get back together. They never did. As an adult, I spent most of my twenties impatiently waiting on my husband while everyone else was getting married. When I did get married, I spent years of my marriage waiting for God to heal us from infertility. I am grateful that God answered my big prayers. Yet, I still cringe a little when I hear the phrases. Either way, the majority of my waiting seasons were dreadful and lonely. And, it felt drawn out, as if I somehow kept failing the test. I realized that I was doing this waiting thing all wrong. I eventually began to enjoy parts of my waiting season. Also, I began to live a life of intentionality and tapped into manifesting the life I desired.

“To Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think according to the power within us.” Ephesians 3:20

In this season, God gave me the assignment to pour into others about the infamous ‘waiting on God’ season. I’m like, God, you sure you want to use me? I spent most of my waiting-on-husband season dramatically kicking and screaming, “God, why have you forsaken me”  in my tiny apartment alone.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it; waiting can be extremely painful mentally. It is even more tolling when the pain is physical. I’ve learned some things about waiting, though. I was doing it all wrong. Let’s cover the misconceptions about waiting.

Misconceptions About Waiting On God,

  • The waiting season is not punishment. It may feel like it, but it’s not.
  • The waiting season doesn’t have to be lonely and boring. There is so much you can do to move it along.
  • The Waiting season is not you staying still “waiting” for things to happen.

There is beauty in the waiting season. A lot takes place in the waiting season. You also don’t have to sit around and wait for something to happen. There are things you can do right now to move you closer to your dream. Have you prayed about it yet? Have you written down your thoughts? If you need a journal to document the journey, grab the
