It’s the last day of March and the ending to the Women Authors Spotlight series for now. My full line up was Chimamanda Adichie, Toni Morrison, Monica Ali and I’m ending with, what I liked to call, a throwback author. I had to include her because if you haven’t read Jane Austen, you’ve been living under a rock. Her most notably novels: Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park, just to name a few. I thought it interesting her name wasn’t well-known until after death since most of her novels were published anonymously. In addition, her novels didn’t conform to what was considered popular in her era, which I appreciate. I love when writers create their own rules and it works.
I appreciate her style of writing known for her satirical commentary. Many literary quotes derived from her works. Though, I haven’t read all of her novels my two favorites thus far are Pride and Prejudice and Emma. What are some of your favorites from Jane Austen? Who are some of your favorite women authors? Did you enjoy the series?

April: Writer’s month.
I thoroughly enjoyed the women author series! Nice one ma’am.
I haven’t read anything from her, so perhaps, ‘ve actually been living under that “said” rock. Haha. That said, ‘ve not been reading that much, but it is my goal to delve into as many author’s minds as possible before the end of the year. At the moment, ‘m reading a short story collection compiled by Victoria Hislop, and ‘ve been enjoying every bit of it.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! : ) Apparently, I’ve been living under a rock too since I haven’t read any Harry Potter or seen the movies… Haha! Its been difficult to find the time, but I’ve reading a few pages before bed each night and its helped to get some reading in. Do know what books you want to read before the end of year?
Haha. I just started watching the Harry Porter film this year too. Gah, I feel like ‘ve just been launched into civilisation. Lol.
About the books, no ma’am– I haven’t the slightest clue. But ‘ve noted the names of some of the books you mentioned in the earlier women authors posts… outside of that, I just intend to storm the bookstore at a more free time, and grab on whatever seems to catch my fancy. Any suggestions? 😀
My favorite is Pride and Prejudice, with Emma a close second.

Yes, especially the A&E miniseries with Cilin Firth.
I liked the movies too. I haven’t seen the miniseries though.
